The A28 Iowa Impeachment Portrait Caravan: I am planning to drive across the great state of Iowa on Saturday, April 28th and meet friends and supporters at various locations along the way (Fort Dodge, Ames, Des Moines, Iowa City, etc.) to photograph people from across Iowa holding block-letter signs to spell "IMPEACH". I want to demonstrate that Iowans support impeachment and to remind our state legislators of that, too. My schedule is as follows: I’ll be starting out at 8 am in Fort Dodge at the Fort Dodge Public Library. My next stop will be in Ames at the Iowa State Memorial Union (ISU campus) north side fountain (between Union Drive and the front door) at 10 am. At 12 noon, I'll be in Des Moines at the Iowa State Capitol Building, Spanish-American War Monument (E. 12th Street). The last stop of the day will be in Iowa City at the south side of the Iowa Memorial Union (UIowa campus), near Hubbard Park at 3 pm. We will gather from 6:45 to 7 PM downtown in the lighted area in the park on the block directly between the Angelika Theatre and Jones Hall. This is on Smith Street between Texas and Capitol, see the map (this is NOT Tranquility Park , which is on the SIDE of the Angelika and within the Houston Festival grounds).This is close to, but not within, the Houston Festival gated area. If you are driving, this is close to underground parking lot 6. If you are coming with a group, there is parking available under and along the side of I-45 along Memorial Drive behind the Hobby Center. You can walk directly along Capitol Avenue to the meeting space. I don't recommend walking alone from this space at night, however. It would be best to carpool anyway because of many different events going on that evening. You may be able to find another person going by posting to this listserve. We will be doing what many, many groups all over the country will be doing that day -- walking around carrying signs that say IMPEACH. CodePink will bring the 7 large I-M-P-E-A-C-H letters that we used at the Impeachment Rally last week.
